Jon Lester Is Comically Bad At Throws To First Base

Jon Lester, despite being a left handed pitcher, is terrible at pick off attempts at first base. He rarely throws over to first and his attempt yesterday shows you why.
It was his first attempt since April and the throw wasn't even close, ending up down the right field line.
There's really no excuse for a professional pitcher at the highest level to not be able to throw the ball to first base.

Jon Lester Got His First Major League Hit Off Of John Lackey, Literally
Jon Lester was 0-66 before finally recording his first Major League hit off of John Lackey. The ball literally went off of Lackey for an infield hit.
The two are former Red Sox rotation mates and one would assume friends. To me it looked like Lackey grooved him one. It was an 0-2 fastball right down the middle.

An Umpire Charged The Mound On Jon Lester
Umpire Andy Fletcher charged the mound on Jon Lester yesterday and had to be restrained by catcher David Ross. Lester was obviously not happy with Fletcher, but it is absolutely insane that an MLB umpire would go out to the mound to confront a pitcher.
Fletcher's actions were uncalled for and he should be fired immediately. These umpires need to set straight.

Jon Lester Did The Throw My Glove To First Base Play
Jon Lester snagged a comebacker and had to throw his glove to first base because the ball was stuck. The WGN guys lost their mind calling it, "the smartest play in the history of baseball."
Probably a little bit of an overstatement on their part. It was a good play and Anthony Rizzo taking his glove off to catch the glove was a good idea.
The smartest play ever? I'm not to sure about that.

Jon Lester Can't Throw The Ball To First Base
It was a pretty well kept secret that Jon Lester can't throw the ball to first base on pick off attempts. He might have gotten away with not throwing over in the American League, but I doubt the National League will be as kind.
Last night Lester threw the ball to first for the first time since April 30, 2013. He threw the ball into right field.
The runner attempted to go all the way to third and was thrown out. Just as Lester drew it up.

It's 2015 And The Cubs Are Still The Cubs
It's 2015 and the Cubs now have Jon Lester and Joe Maddon so they're supposed to win every game now. Back To The Future said they would win it all dammit. Aren't these two enough?
Well that is what the "experts" say. They're loaded with young talent, and have been for several years now, all they needed was a captain for the ship and an ace to anchor the rotation.
On opening night in a stadium not ready for play due to renovations, the Cubs are still the Cubs. On the field they did what they do and got shutout and off of it, the bathrooms situation was so bad fans were peeing in cups.

Jon Lester Was Officially Introduced By The Cubs
The Cubs officially announced their new ace, Jon Lester, on Monday. Lester said he is looking forward to winning. It makes his choice to sign with the Cubs a little suspect, given the team's history.
If anyone can bring the Cubs a World Series it's Theo Epstein. It's not likely to be next season, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were able to get one in the next five years.

Jon Lester signed with the Cubs for six years at $155 million, because Theo Epstein is a slick son of a bitch. Epstein was able to pull Lester away from the Red Sox and other former Red Sox could follow.
According to Larry Brown Sports, free agents David Ross and Jonny Gomes could be on their way to Chicago as well. That's a pretty big improvement to the rotation and key role players, if they all end up with the Cubs. One thing Epstein knows how to do is build a winner.
If he can build another winner in Chicago, like he did in Boston, he might become a GM legend. Not that he isn't already for the job he did with the Red Sox, but could you imagine if he pulls it off for the Cubs?

Cubs Offer Jon Lester $138 Million Dollar Contract
Jon Lester's return to the Boston Red Sox is being complicated by the Chicago Cubs and their GM Theo Epstein. Epstein was of course the GM of the Red Sox before leaving town for the Cubs. He's reportedly offered Lester a contract of $138 million dollars and that is currently the most any team has offered, with the Red Sox thought to be about $8 million lower.

The Cubbies Have Offered Jon Lester A Six Year Deal
The Cubs have reportedly offered free agent pitcher, Jon Lester, a six year deal worth over $135 million. They either really want the lefty or Theo Epstein, the Red Sox former general, wants to drive up Lester's value and screw his old team.

The Red Sox Are Attempting To Sign Every Free Agent
The Red Sox are apparently on a spending spree as they retool for the 2015 season. They've signed Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez and still have the return of Jon Lester in their sights.

MLB Just Crowned The Red Sox Because They're Attempting To Sign Sandoval And Lester
Sometimes you run across something you just can't make up. The MLB twitter account just tweeted "Worst to first, Take 2?" about the Red Sox. Because they're attempting to sign free agents Jon Lester and Pablo Sandoval.
There you have it, attempting to sign free agents means your team is now in first after finishing in last place. It only takes two players too. Wait didn't they have Lester for the majority of 2014?

A's Drop 4 Straight to the Angels
The A's are now 12-17 since trading their best hitter, Yoenis Cespedes, to Boston for Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes. They just dropped 4 straight to their division leading Angels and are so desperate for some power they've traded for Adam Dunn.
Billy Beane's gamble that he could trade his clean up hitter for an ace doesn't appear to be paying off. He has to be personally upset considering he sold out on his "moneyball" philosophy to pull of the trade.

David Price Traded Day After He Thought the Trade Deadline Had Ended
David Price was the Detroit Tigers counter move to the A's picking up Jon Lester.
Acquiring Price now gives the Tigers the last three CY Young Award winners in the same rotation.
Given that the A's parted ways with their cleanup hittet you have to feel the Tigers move was the better one.
Should make for an interesting end to the season.

Check Out Nike's New Derek Jeter Commercial
Nike's new commercial is just another part of the Derek Jeter farewell tour. Jeter is set to play in his last All Star game and this "All Star" commercial is loaded with stars, even the king of Nike, Michael Jordan makes an appearance.
There are plenty of haters out there but I think it is pretty safe to say there are more who if they don't love him they at least respect him. As is illustrated by Red Sox pitcher, Jon Lester.
