Zack Greinke signs with the Arizona Diamondbacks for a ridiculous amount of money. DBacks gave him a 6 year deal valued at over $200 million.
He joins a team that finished behind both the Dodgers and the Giants. Obviously he signed for the money, but getting the chance to stroke his ego and be the number one probably played a part.
That's a lot of money for one starting pitcher. Looks like Arizona has begun digging the hole that will bury the team financially.

Daniel Murphy hit a solo homerun in the top of the 6th inning off of Zack Greinke that proved to be the game winner. It was the last run of the series and sent the Dodgers home.
The Mets now face the Cubs in a NLCS matchup that features a ton of young talent.

The Mets beat the Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw 3-1 in game 1 last night. Because that's what Kershaw does, he loses in the postseason.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly had a choice to make before the game, start Kershaw or Zach Greinke. He went Kershaw despite his tendency to lose postseason games.
Not only does Kershaw lose in the postseason but Greinke had a better season this year and should have started.
Jacob DeGrom was lights out for the Mets making it a fairly easy win for the Mets. That sense of calm carried into their post game interview where they messed with each other's chairs.

Bryce Harper dissed Zack Greinke after the Dodgers pitcher shutout the Nationals and extended his scoreless streak to 43 2/3. Harper didn't seem very happy with the strike zone, claiming Greinke got an extra 6 inches of plate.
Sounds like Harper was just a little salty after striking out twice against the former CY Young Award winner.
You can't talk trash about the pitcher if you feel the strike zone played a role in his success. He didn't call the strikes.
