Cano Wants To Go Back To New York
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The NY Daily News is reporting that Mariners second baseman, Robinson Cano, isn't happy in Seattle and wants to comeback to New York.
Haha!!!
In a response story about the comments Andy Van Slyke made about Cano, it was revealed the former Yankee wants another chance in the Bronx:
I say let him rot in Seattle.

In a response story about the comments Andy Van Slyke made about Cano, it was revealed the former Yankee wants another chance in the Bronx:
But even if Cano has had the best intentions as a Mariner, one long-time friend who spoke to him recently says the second baseman is not happy in Seattle, especially with a new regime in charge there now, and that he’d love to somehow find his way back to New York.In order for Cano to be back in pinstripes he would need to be traded. New York's failure to address second base with a long-term solution since Cano's departure, could be an indication that they might be open to return.
I say let him rot in Seattle.

Andy Van Slyke Trashed Robinson Cano, "He Was Just The Most Awful Player I've Ever Seen"
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Andy Van Slyke talked about his time on the Mariners coaching staff and absolutely destroyed Robinson Cano. He repeatedly said he was the worst player he's ever seen. Van Slyke went after Cano's entire game too, not just his drop off at the plate.
I don't know about the worst player, but Cano certainly has fallen short of that huge deal he signed. I'm so glad the Yankees let him walk and even more happy that he hasn't produced in Seattle.
Here the interview here.
"You would have thought Cano would have had a terrific year, but he had the worst single year of an every day player in 20 years in the big league level. He was just the most awful player I have ever seen."Van Slyke went on to blame Cano for getting the GM and the Mariners coaches fired. The comments were made during an interview with a CBS Sports called The Press Box.

How Is Seattle Working Out For You Cano?
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Robinson Cano hit in head by ball flew over Albert Pujols' during #Angels warm up #SEAvsLAA https://t.co/fV7uke3qED pic.twitter.com/F7G5oi5jMI

Robinson Cano is in his second season with the Seattle Mariners and up to this point it hasn't been very good. He's only hitting .246 with only 4 home runs this season.
The bad luck continued on Saturday for Cano when he was struck in the head while sitting in the dugout. It was an errant throw between innings that got him and left him with a pretty big knot on his forehead.
Cano was forced out of the game because of the injury and will undergo concussion evaluation.
There is video (check it out below) of the ball flying over Albert Pujos' head and jumping off of Cano's. He did take a pretty good shot. Pujols was immediately upset by the fact that the ball hit somebody.

Jay Z Asked David Wells About The Bloody Sock Game And David Cone Can't Spell Curt Schilling's Name
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
David Cone sent out a tweet about Jay Z asking David Wells about the bloody sock game at SNL's 40th Anniversary show afterparty.

Only one problem with that, it was Curt Schilling not Wells who pitched the bloody sock game. I guess Jay Z isn't as big of a Yankees fan as he claims. As if helping Robinson Cano move out west wasn't enough evidence.
Wells of course was involved in his own legendary game. He threw a perfect game hungover. Maybe Jay Z just got his stories mixed up.
Either way Cone misspelled Schilling's name in his tweet. Which one is funnier?

Steroid User Nelson Cruz Signed A 4 Year Deal With The Mariners
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Nelson Cruz signed a 4 year deal with the Seattle Mariners. Cruz, who was suspended for steroid use at the end of the 2013 season, led the league in home runs with 40 in his one season with the Orioles last year.
#Mariners lineup just got way better with the Nelson Cruz signing at 4yrs and $57m putting him between Cano & Seager L/R/L will help all 3

Looks like the Mariners are boosting their lineup following a 2014 season that lacked power and much of anything around Robinson Cano.

Robinson Cano Returns to New York: Greeted by Clever Sign
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
In his first at bat back in New York, Yankees fans booed Robinson Cano. When he took the field the bleacher creatures chanted "sell out."
Then we saw one of the more clever signs directed at the once beloved second baseman.

Yankees and Red Sox Fans Trade Stupid Signs
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Sometimes people hold up signs to identify themselves as complete dumb asses. This Yankees fan is at the Seattle vs Anaheim game giving Robinson Cano hell about taking the money. Even though the Yankees offer to Cano was actually more annually. Cano left for the years.
Yes. That's a (awful) Yankee (in Anaheim) fan complaining that it's all about the money with Robinson Cano. pic.twitter.com/UZ0nTfXXtW
— Jimmy Traina (@JimmyTraina) April 1, 2014
But not to be outdone by the Yankees, a Red Sox fan showed up to the Yankees vs Astros game to tell Jacoby Ellsbury how much of a traitor he is. Only one problem, okay two....

Cano Thinks the Mariners Need Another Bat
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Talk about your understatements. Robinson Cano said in an interview with CBS Sports that the Mariners could use another bat, especially a righty in their lefty heavy lineup. Cano I think is going to have his rude awakening a little sooner than expected.
The Mariners aren't the Yankees and aren't willing to just go out and get another bat. They're acting like Corey Hart and Logan Morrison are top tier hitters and that's all they need but Hart missed all of last year and it's hard to tell what he will bring. Truth is they need more than one bat.
Getting ready for this to be a spring training tradition for Robinson and the Mariners an annual dance in we need this or that.

Another Overpaid Free Agent in the Year of the Overpaid Free Agent
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Rangers sign Shin-Soo Choo for 7 years and $130 million dollars. In an off season of outrageous free agent deals this fits right in. Considering what Jacoby Ellsbury, Phil Hughes, Bartolo Colon, Curtis Granderson and of course Robinson Cano just to name a few.

Mariners Announce Cano, Yankees Fans Unhappy and Cano Claims it Wasn't About the Money
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Mariners announced their new second basemen Robinson Cano and shared a picture of the new bearded Mariner.
It turns out Cano felt disrespected by the Yankees. Yeah he was disrespected with a 7 year $175 million dollar contract offer. An offer that would have grossly overpaid him and is actually annually larger than the one he signed. But it lacked his 10 year request so that apparently equals disrespect.
Robinson will wear #22 #HelloCano pic.twitter.com/JJ9qKhf3Ct
— Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) December 12, 2013
Notice the lack of a smile on his face, get used to that Robinson. Also of note is the number change, no way would Seattle let him wear Ken Griffey Jr.'s 24.
I’m looking forward to the future and joining the @Mariners in Seattle! Thank you New York & my amazing fans for the support thru the years.
— Robinson Cano (@RobinsonCano) December 12, 2013
On the day of the official announcement Cano took to twitter to thank the Yankees fans who supported him, but not all are happy with him after his decision to leave. One tweeted:
@RobinsonCano no one likes you ! You aren’t welcome in this city go kill yourself — Anthony Scotti (@anthony_scotti) December 12, 2013As you can clearly see, no love lost. There is also a glaring omission from Cano's tweet. He thanks NY and the fans but not the Yankees. I soon found out why when I caught the snippet of his interview with Pedro Gomez that I posted below.

It may be true that it is 3 years longer but it is also true that the contract is $65 million dollars larger. He can tell himself whatever he'd like, the fact remains he is greedy and he signed for more money. He claims you can't get a deal at 37 or 38 and Bartolo Colon just signed a two year $20 million dollar deal at 41. If you produce you can get a contract!

Corey Hart Signs with Mariners
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Mariners are clearly still active in the free agent market signing former Brewer Corey Hart. Hart will reportedly protect Robinson Cano in the Mariners lineup. I wouldn't classify the signing as protection for Cano.
Hart signs a 1 year $5 million dollar deal. He missed all of the 2013 season with a right knee injury and at 31, there is no way to know if he will return to his old form. So it's a little hopeful on the Mariners part and a little premature on the media's part to say he will protect Cano. At this point we just don't know.

The Real Reason Cano Left The Yankees
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The real reason Robinson Cano left the Yankees was he didn't want to play for Joe Girardi. Well according to the New York Post anyway. They claim to have received the information from three of Cano's unnamed friends.
According to three people who know Cano, he didn’t enjoy playing for manager Joe Girardi and that may have factored into the decision, though the Mariners giving him $60 million more than the Yankees offered ($175 million) likely had more to do with him leaving.
“Robbie didn’t like batting second, he wanted to bat in the middle of the order,’’ one person said. “The Yankees wanted him second because that was best for the team. He wanted to hit in the middle of the order to drive in runs [to increase his value].’’One of the friends goes on to say specifically he didn't want to play for the current Yankees manager.
“He told me he didn’t want to play for [Girardi],’’ a friend of Cano’s said.I'm sure Cano is happy with his decision to leave, for now anyway. Let's circle back with him after a couple of losing seasons. To think that just because the Mariners signed Cano and even a couple more players this off season and suddenly they will be contenders is absurd. They have many holes to fill.

Carlos Beltran Signs with the Yankees
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
On the a day when both Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson left town the Yankees signed Carlos Beltran. After signing Jacoby Ellsbury the Yankees are now loaded with outfielders.
You gotta think either Beltran will be DHing the majority of time or Brett Gardner is on the way out. Given Beltran's age he'll likely be DH. Beltran signed for 3 years and $45 million dollars.

Mike Napoli Staying Put
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Mike Napoli and his beard announced via his twitter account that he's staying in Boston. It is being reported that the first basemen will ink a two year $32 million dollar contract to stay put in Boston.
It is also widely believed he had better offers on the table and chose to remain with the Red Sox. Napoli of course was a key part of the Red Sox World Series run this past season and obviously want to try it again.

The signing is actually refreshing considering what has happened this week with Ellsbury, Saltalamacchia and Cano ditching clubs they spent several years with in favor of money.
Cano Signs with Mariners....Third Highest Contract in MLB History
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners sign a 10 year $240 million dollar contract. Not only did Cano go to the highest bidder he apparently went to the stupidest as well. The Mariners have learned nothing from the Albert Pujols and A Rod deals.
The length is bad and the money is worse. Cano had a solid year last year but nowhere near the numbers Pujols or A Rod were putting up when they signed unreal deals. Cano is 31 years old and an average fielder at best. Sure he has a great arm but his range is limited and his effort isn't always there.
It's a terrible deal for the Mariners! FLUSH!!!! The sound of all that money going down the drain. Enjoy absolutely no national attention Robby.

Cano Heading Out West to Talk with Mariners
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Robinson Cano and agent Jay Z are heading out to Seattle to meet with the Mariners. The price tag has dropped well below the $300 million but Cano could be on his way to signing with the Mariners. They seem to be closer at this point than the Yankees.
Robinson Cano asked the Mariners for $240M/10 yrs. SEA made offer that wasn't over $200M, sources tell @Ken_Rosenthal http://t.co/l2DkE6gyzj
