Gary Thorne Called Albert Pujols Retarded

Clearly Gary Thorne made a mistake during this ground out.  As Manny Machado threw out Albert Pujols at first, he said Pujols was retarded instead of retired.  Everyone knows that he meant to say, but that's not what came out of his mouth.  What came out of his mouth is pretty funny.

How Is Seattle Working Out For You Cano?

Robinson Cano is in his second season with the Seattle Mariners and up to this point it hasn't been very good.  He's only hitting .246 with only 4 home runs this season.

The bad luck continued on Saturday for Cano when he was struck in the head while sitting in the dugout.  It was an errant throw between innings that got him and left him with a pretty big knot on his forehead.

Cano was forced out of the game because of the injury and will undergo concussion evaluation.

There is video (check it out below) of the ball flying over Albert Pujos' head and jumping off of Cano's.  He did take a pretty good shot.  Pujols was immediately upset by the fact that the ball hit somebody.

Center Fielder Completed An Unassisted Double Play At First Base

Astros centerfielder, Jake Marisnick, doubled off Albert Pujols at first base after a running catch.  A pretty normal play right?  Well not exactly.

Marisnick completed the unassisted double play by running in from centerfield and toughing first base.  Pujols clearly misjudged the ball and thought it was going to drop.  It didn't and a bizarre unassisted double play was born.

Pujols Tags Up on Nonchalant Puig

Albert Pujols has seen enough of Yasiel Puig to know when the young Dodgers star outfielder puts it on cruise control.  So much so that Pujols was able to tag up from first base on a fly ball to center and make it to second easily.

Pujols didn't just take the extra base on Puig he then taunted him a little about his lack of hustle.

Manny Machado With Another Amazing Throw

The strength of Manny Machado's arm is on full display on this play.  The young Orioles third baseman has made this play before, but it is not any less impressive.  There are very few even among the professional ranks that can make this throw so far in foul territory and pretty much flat footed.

Not to mention the fact that he made this throw and got the runner out.  Sure it was Albert Pujols and he's not the swiftest of foot, but he would have gotten a pretty large number of other MLBers too.

Mike Trout and Albert Pujols Mock Fernando Rodney

Mike Trout and Albert Pujols mock Fernando Rodney after causing him to blow a save.  The Angels not only blew Rodney's save they also won the game with a two out walk off RBI.

But back to the mockery, Pujols drove Trout in and the two decided to shoot arrows at each other mocking Rodney's save celebration.  The wild west is heating up and this will surely be used as a little fuel as they battle it out in the american league west and the playoff picture starts to take shape.

The Angels Tested Cespedes Again

Remarkably the Angels tested Yoenis Cespedes arm again after he misplayed another ball.  Cespedes might be misplaying balls on purpose now.  He on back to back nights made incredible throws to nail Angels runners.

His first victim was Howie Kendrick who tried to score after a Cespedes misplay and this one was Albert Pujols who tried to stretch and easy double into three bases.

Albert Pujols Joins the 500 Home Run Club

Albert Pujols hit 499 and 500 on Tuesday night in Washington.  Pujols becomes the third youngest to reach 500 home runs and just the 26th player to hit 500 or more in the history of the game.  With all of the PED use circulating in the last 20 or 30 years of the game, does 500 home runs mean the same as it used to?

Pujols hasn't been mentioned in any PED stories so you have to believe he's done it legitimately and to me the 500 mark is still impressive, especially for a guy with a clean name.

Cano Signs with Mariners....Third Highest Contract in MLB History

Robinson Cano and the Seattle Mariners sign a 10 year $240 million dollar contract.  Not only did Cano go to the highest bidder he apparently went to the stupidest as well.  The Mariners have learned nothing from the Albert Pujols and A Rod deals.

The length is bad and the money is worse.  Cano had a solid year last year but nowhere near the numbers Pujols or A Rod were putting up when they signed unreal deals.  Cano is 31 years old and an average fielder at best.  Sure he has a great arm but his range is limited and his effort isn't always there.

It's a terrible deal for the Mariners!  FLUSH!!!!  The sound of all that money going down the drain.  Enjoy absolutely no national attention Robby.
