Giancarlo Stanton Set The Record For Longest Home Run At Citi Field

Giancarlo Stanton hit the longest home run at Citi Field today.  It was an absolute tape measure bomb that traveled 466 feet, breaking the previous record that he also set.

Of course long bombs are nothing new for the Marlins $300 million dollar man.

Announcer Said "The Big Salad Got Tossed" After Comebacker Took Off Tom Koehler's Hat

Tom Koehler avoided a line drive off of his head, but the Marlins pitcher lost his hat on the play.  He has long hair and the announcer referred to it as salad when he said, "the big salad got tossed."

Glad to see that he's okay but if he was in fielding position when the ball was hit back to him he likely would not have had to turn away like he did.

But he didn't, his hat fell off and we got a tossed salad reference.

Ben Ancheff Is The Jared Lorenzen Of Pitching

Ben Ancheff has officially become a thing.  It's usually hot chicks that test the internet, but this is a very large college kid.  Ancheff is a pitcher for St. Thomas (Miami) and I think it's safe to say he's large and he's in charge.

Ancheff is the Jared Lorenzen of college baseball.  And from the looks of the video below dude can throw gas.

Buck Showalter Catches Reporter Yawning Tells Him "There's No Yawning In Here"

Buck Showalter is an entertaining interview.  His postgame interviews can be very fun to watch, especially when he catches a member of the media slipping.  That's just what happened the other night.

Showalter spotted a member of the media yawning and told him, "there's no yawning in here."  He went on to ask him if he drank coffee, when the reporter answer no he had another great response saying, "that's your fault."

Haaa get him Buck.

This Rangers Fan Might Have Given The Best Fan Interview Ever

For some reason this Rangers fan was interviewed about the price of his game 7 tickets.  He made the most of his opportunity by giving one of the the best interviews ever by a fan.

The guy paid $4,500 to watch the Rangers lose and not even score.  I said he was funny, I didn't say he was smart, via Bro Bible:

The Entire Curry Family Was On Hand At The San Francisco Giants Game

With a week off before the NBA Finals starts the Curry family took in a baseball game Friday night.  The entire family including the NBA's MVP, Stephen Curry.

They picked a good one to see as the Giants won the game 4-2 for their fourth win in a row.

Bryce Harper Hit By A Pitch Had A Discussion With Joey Votto About It

Bryce Harper took a 93 MPH fastball to the middle of his back, between his numbers, and wasn't at all happy about it.  He tossed his bat and shin guard and walked to first base.  It didn't appear that he said or did anything to the pitcher.

When he reached first base, Cincinnati Reds first  baseman Joey Votto had a few words for the Nationals slugger.  I'm not really sure what Votto's problem is, but he clearly wasn't happy with Harper.  Maybe Votto needs one between his shoulder blades to see how much fun it is.

Josh Hamilton Hit Two Home Runs

Well it didn't take Josh Hamilton very long to get back in the swing of things.   He was activated from the DL on Monday and homered twice on Friday.  Both of Hamilton's home runs came off of the Red Sox knuckleballer.

Not a bad first week for Hamilton in his return to Texas.  Looks like a change of scenery, back to a familiar one, has done him some good.  So much for the "he's washed up" talk.

Adrian Peterson Is Complaining About His Contract

Adrian Peterson went on a twitter rant about NFL contracts in some sort of attempt to get out of Minnesota.  There are a couple of things wrong with his complaint.

One is the fact that he spent the majority of the season last season getting paid not to play.  And not due to injury, because he abused his own kid.  The second thing is that he is guaranteed over $12 million dollars when the season starts.

So, I hate to admit it, but I agree with Boomer Esiason.  Quit your bitching Adrian and play out your contract then sign with Dallas.

The A's Ball Boy Made A Diving Play On Foul Ball

The A's ball boy made a diving play in front of the A's bullpen.  I'm not going to lie it was a pretty good play.

But why do the announcers know him by his name?  Scotty might be in danger.  All I can think about is the scene from Airplane when the kid visits the cockpit, via Bob's Blitz:

Even Prince Fielder's Foul Balls Are Hungry

Prince Fielder hit a foul ball yesterday that landed in a woman's nachos.  The poor lady had cheese all over her.  The dude behind her ended up with the ball and hopefully he gave it to her.  She clearly earned it.

Bill Laimbeer Said He Would Take LeBron Over Jordan

As a guest on The Dan Patrick Show, Bill Laimbeer said he would pick LeBron James over Michael Jordan because he's a crazy person.  That or he's bitter.

Remember Laimbeer was a member of those Pistons teams that couldn't beat Jordan's Bulls.  He's likely bitter and attempting to muddy up the debate.

Don't get me wrong LeBron is a great player, but his skill set is different than Jordans.  Jordan was able to take his skill set to and win 6 titles and LeBron has only been able to win 2 so far.

That pretty much ends the debate.  LeBron doesn't have Jordan's killer instinct.

The Bulls Fired Tom Thibodeau And Trashed Him On The Way Out

Despite a very successful tenure as the Chicago Bulls head coach, the Bulls fired Tom Thibodeau on Thursday.  He went 255-139 during his 5 years as the Bulls coach, but that wasn't good enough.

In a statement announcing the firing Bulls chairman, Jerry Reinsdorf, trashed Thibodeau, via ESPN:
"The Chicago Bulls have a history of achieving great success on and off the court," Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement announcing the firing. "These accomplishments have been possible because of an organizational culture where input from all parts of the organization has been welcomed and valued, there has been a willingness to participate in a free flow of information, and there have been clear and consistent goals. While the head of each department of the organization must be free to make final decisions regarding his department, there must be free and open interdepartmental discussion and consideration of everyone's ideas and opinions. These internal discussions must not be considered an invasion of turf, and must remain private. Teams that consistently perform at the highest levels are able to come together and be unified across the organization-staff, players, coaches, management and ownership. When everyone is on the same page, trust develops and teams can grow and succeed together.

"Unfortunately, there has been a departure from this culture. To ensure that the Chicago Bulls can continue to grow and succeed, we have decided that a change in the head coaching position is required. Days like today are difficult, but necessary for us to achieve our goals and fulfill our commitments to our fans. I appreciate the contributions that Tom Thibodeau made to the Bulls organization. I have always respected his love of the game and wish him well in the future."
That doesn't sound like a peaceful decision to part ways.  There were also reports that the Bulls had security guards escort Thibodeau from their facility following the firing.

Thibodeau is considered a pretty good coach in the NBA and I don't think it will take very long for him to find a new gig.

Is Cam Newton Confident Or Full Of Himself?

Cam Newton did an interview with WCCB Charlotte and he left a lot of people unhappy with his comments.  The Panthers quarterback said, "nobody's ever been who I'm trying to be."

He then went through all the reasons why nobody has ever been who he's trying to be.  Saying nobody's has the size, speed and arm strength.  Claiming there hasn't been anyone with his skill set.

Newton is in the last year of his rookie contract and he has a lot to prove.  Either way he has a big payday coming next year.

Dwight Howard Said He Is Still A Champion

Despite losing the Western Conference Championship to the Warriors and no longer competing for the NBA Championship, Dwight Howard said he is still a champion.  Howard must think there is a championship given out for participation or something.

Johnny Football from Archer Avenue

Check out more from me, including movie reviews & movie trailers, at Archer Avenue (archeravenue.net).  Also, follow me on Twitter @OlieCoen for sports & movie talk.

About a year ago I posted my opinions on Johnny Manziel and his being drafted by the Cleveland Browns.  I predicted that he would fail as an NFL QB, like so many gifted college quarterbacks have failed before.  Tim Tebow, Kellen Moore; record-breakers & play-makers, but not elite talent once they reach the next level.  Manziel’s size, his lack of strength, his lack of football awareness; these things matter more in the pros than they do in the NCAA, and your weaknesses betray you when you play against the best of the best.  In 2014 with the Browns, Johnny ended up playing in five games.  He started two of them, and didn’t produce very good numbers.  In total, he completed 51% of his passes, threw for 0 TDs, 2 INTs, was sacked 3 times, ran for 29 yards, had 1 rushing touchdown, and fumbled the ball once.  For a gifted athlete who was supposed to give defenses fits, those aren’t the numbers you’re looking for.  I think the majority of NFL fans knew he wouldn’t succeed, especially not right away, and especially not in Cleveland, so perhaps his poor year doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

But I was wrong about his off-the-field issues.  I predicted that he’d put all that behind him, that his immaturity was nothing other than your typical case of famous football player with too much attention.  He wasn’t breaking laws, ruining any chances, or humiliating himself.  He just made some poor decisions, obviously liked to party a bit too much, and could easily put that all behind him once he became a professional player.  Well, maybe not so much.  In the preseason he flashed the bird at the opposing sideline and was, of course, caught on camera.  Perhaps he wasn’t ready to take control of his actions quite yet after all.  And then, after the season, he admitted himself into an addiction rehabilitation center.  So, again, perhaps all that wasn’t behind him.  His arrogance, his lack of self-awareness, and his drug/drinking problem weren’t fixed by his leaving the college lifestyle for the NFL lifestyle, and maybe we should have seen that coming to.

What we’re left with is a big name doing small things.  He hasn’t shown much on the field, when he got the chance he didn’t impress, and during the offseason he was dealing with personal issues instead of improving his game.  Johnny Manziel will be a disappointment, if he isn’t already, another great college QB who doesn’t translate to the next level.  And the worst part is, it was pretty obvious that that would be the case.  He’s not a giant bust, he wasn’t going to be the savior of Cleveland, most people understood that the kid had problems both mentally & physically and therefore wouldn’t be all that good.  Turns out, at least so far, that his detractors were right.  At least Tim Tebow has spurts of brilliance to counteract his glaring mechanical flaws, and at least he was a model citizen, as well as a good teammate.  Manziel isn’t any of those things, leading you to wonder who in their right mind would draft him in the first place.

Turns Out Klay Thompson Did Have A Concussion

As if taking a flying knee to the side of the head and then bleeding from the ear wasn't enough of an indication, Klay Thompson did in fact suffer a concussion last night.  He did pass the concussion protocol, you know the one where they needed to win the game to advance to The Finals.

Turns out he was unable to drive home and once he made it home he vomited a couple times.  They might want to revisit the concussion protocol if a guy who took a knee to the head and bled from the ear was able to continue playing.

Riley Curry Made Another Postgame Press Conference Appearance

The Golden State Warriors wrapped up the Western Conference last night and earned their spot in The Finals.  Stephen Curry, of course, had to do a postgame interview and he brought his 2 year old daughter back with him.

From that moment on it was Riley's show again and I hope it pissed off the media.  I hope that "I have deadlines and isn't sports really about me not the athletes" wing is really upset this morning.  Maybe their heads will explode.

Mark Jackson Got Choked Up After The Warriors Advanced To The Finals

If you didn't know then you weren't watching last night or had the sound down, because Mark Jackson used to be the coach the Warriors.  As he mentioned several times.

After the Warriors advanced to the Finals with new head coach Steve Kerr, Jackson got a little choked up.  Probably thinking that could have been us.

Making matters worse was the fact that some of his former players came up and showed him some love after the game.

Doris Burke Said Not A Soul Outside Of The Rockets Organization Thinks They Can Win

Doris Burke kept it as real as real can get during her pregame interview with Josh Smith of the Rockets.  She said, "let's be honest, not a soul outside of your organization thinks you guys can win the series."

While that might be true, this seems like a case of when keepin it real goes wrong.  I don't think I've ever seen a pregame interview like that.

Buster Olney Actually Wrote An Article About A Rod Becoming The Marlins Next Manager

This has to be some sort of joke right?  Did ESPN tell Buster Olney to write the most ridiculous thing he could think of to get them attention?

Olney actually came up with and wrote a story about a scenario where Alex Rodriguez would become the next Marlins manager, via For The Win:
He knows situations, he knows players, he watches other players. He is a fan of the sport. I would assume that if Rodriguez does not get a job on some team’s staff after retiring, he’ll probably work in television, and I suspect he would be pretty good at it because it’s clear, when you hear him discuss specific parts of the game, that he has accumulated a staggering amount of knowledge about how the game is played….

Kyrie Irving Gave Anderson Varejao And His Andre The Giant Hair A Shot To The Nuts

Anderson Varejao's season was lost to injury but that didn't keep Kyrie Irving from giving him a shot to the nuts.  Varejao was there, with his Andre the Giant hair, supporting his team and that is the thanks he gets.

The shot was caught on camera during the 3rd quarter of the Cavs game 4 victory over the Hawks.

Nothing says the NBA Playoffs like a shot to the nuts.

Bryce Harper Impressed Himself With A Home Run

Bryce Harper hit a ball to left field that he thought he missed.  He was upset with himself as he left the batter's box.  It landed in the seats for a home run.

Shaq Said He Would Last 45 Seconds With Ronda Rousey

Somehow the Inside The NBA crew got on the topic of Ronda Rousey.  That's when Shaq said he could last 45 seconds against her.

Giancarlo Stanton Made A Great Catch Against Fence

Giancarlo Stanton showed off some impressive jumping ability when he snagged a fly ball that was headed for the right field fence.  He crashed into the fence after making the grab, but seemed to be okay.

Stephen Curry Took A Nasty Spill On His Head

Stephen Curry landed awkwardly on his head after having his legs taken out from under him attempting to block a shot.  Curry hit the floor very hard on his back and head.  He was clearly dazed after he finally made it off of the floor.

The Rockets came out on fire scoring 45 points in the first quarter.  A bad night for Golden State got a lot worse when Curry went down.

Ray McDonald Has Been Arrested For Domestic Violence Again

Chicago Bears defensive linemen, Ray McDonald, has been arrested for domestic violence.  This isn't the first time either.  He was arrested last year while a member of the 49ers.

According to reports there is a possible child endangerment charge as well, via Pro Football Talk:
McDonald, who became a lightning rod for controversy following a domestic violence accusation last year and later was abruptly cut following a separate accusation of sexual assault, has been arrested, according to Damian Trujillo of NBC Bay Area.

Per Trujillo, the new allegation is domestic violence and “possible child endangerment.”
Hey NFL, how is that domestic violence working out for you?  I know you'd much rather focus on more important things, like the PSI of footballs.

Has McDonald done enough damage to face real punishment?  Or does he have to kill someone first?

After the fight Cormier, who Jones dominated back at UFC 182, called out the former light heavyweight champ.  He told him to, "get his shit together."

He dominated Cormier when he didn't have his stuff together.  Can you imagine a refocused Jones?  There is no point in putting that fight together.  Cormier needs to successfully defend the belt before he calls out Jones.

The Marlins Got Dan Jennings His First Win As A Manager And Celebrated With A Pool Party

It took extra innings and the ejection of a pitcher for a foreign substance, but the Marlins finally got their new manager, Dan Jennings, his first win.  So of course they had a pool party.  Because that's how a team who has a manager who has never manged a team higher than high school reacts to a win.

Stephen Curry Boxed Out Dwight Howard

I think it's safe to say Dwight Howard is still soft.  During the game three blowout loss to the Warriors, Howard was boxed out by Stephen Curry.

Kobe Bryant Responded To Retirement Rumors

Lakers GM, Mitch Kupchak, sparked the Kobe Bryant retirement rumors again by saying he expects the 2015-16 season to be the aging superstars last season with the Lakers.  He added that Kobe had indicated to him he would be retiring after next season, LA Times:
"He has indicated to me that this is it," said Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak on Thursday on "Sirius XM NBA Radio" with Rick Fox and Jared Greenberg.

"There have been no discussions about anything going forward and I don't think there will be," he continued.
Kobe responded with a tweet to the recent rumors:

Andrew McCutchen's Pay Stub Showed Up Online

Andrew McCutchen's pay stub ended up online.  The story is a guy came across it during a Wrigley Field tour after the Pirates outfielder left it.  The two week pay stub is unreal to look at considering how much McCutchen took home for the two weeks.

Also eye opening is how much money he was taxed.  No wonder so many athletes go bankrupt when their playing days are over.  Uncle Sam is taxing them silly, via SB Nation:

No word on how serious the injury is.  I think it's safe to say he's hurt more than Dwight Howard is.

Shaq Ended Up On Kiss Cam During Cavs-Hawks Playoff Game

Shaq ended up on the Atlanta Hawks kiss cam during their playoff game against the Cavaliers.  That isn't a lady next to him either.  It looks like one of his Inside The NBA partners, Ernie Johnson.

Lucky guy.

Roger Goodell Claims No Deal For Brady Suspension Reduction

Roger Goodell spoke with the media at the NFL owner's meetings and of course discussed the Patriots, Tom Brady and deflategate.  He was asked flat out if the Patriots acceptance of the NFL's deflategate punishment would have any affect on Brady's appeal and he said no.

Does anyone believe him?  I mean there is a deal in place to reduce Brady's suspension right?  Why else would the Patriots decide not to fight the punishment the NFL handed down for what they said probably happened?

At the same time Goodell can't sit there and say yeah it will help Brady's appeal.  It was kind of a clown question bro.

Diamondbacks Fan In Miami Shows Everyone How Not To Be Jerk With A Ball In The Stands

An Arizona Diamondbacks fan in the stands in Miami snagged a foul ball and found a kid to give it to.  Could it have been his Batman shirt or some other unseen force?

I guess we'll never know.

What we do know is he didn't steal a home run ball from an old lady, like the jhort wearing Phillies fan.  Or a Royals fan who gives a ball to a kid and then ask for it back.

This is how grown ups act.

Stephen Curry's Daughter Took Over His Game 1 Interview

Stephen Curry's 3 year old daughter, Riley, took over her father's postgame interview following game 1.  Curry dropped 34 points in the victory, but it was his daughter who stole the show.

I still can't get over the fact that Steph's mom is a grandmother.  I mean have you seen her?

They don't make grandmothers like they used to.

Dude Headbutted A Puck For A Goal

During last night's Blackhawks-Ducks NHL playoff game Andrew Shaw headbutted a puck into the net.  The goal was taken away because hockey is not soccer and you can't deliberately head a puck into the goal.

Who knew?  You learn something new everyday.

The Blackhawks would eventually win the game in triple overtime.

Robert Kraft Accepts NFL's Punishment And Won't Appeal

Robert Kraft spoke at the owner's meeting today and said that the Patriots will not appeal the NFL's deflategate punishment and they will not appeal, via NFL:

"I don't want to continue the rhetoric," Kraft said Tuesday at the Spring League Meeting. "I'm going to accept, reluctantly, what (Goodell) has given to us. We won't appeal."
That was an unexpected turn events.  Who would have thought the Patriots would be the one to back down?

Reporter Asked Kyrie Irving What Type Of Parental Role LeBron James Plays On Cavs

This reporter completely blew the question here.  She hinted at her question mentioning what a good father someone said LeBron James is and she should have stopped there.  You can clearly see Kyrie Irving wasn't about to have any of this what type of father figure is LeBron to me discussion and she still went there.

You can only laugh and shake your head at people sometimes and that's how Kyrie played it.

Ronda Rousey Said She'll Never Fight Floyd Mayweather Unless They Ended Up Dating

Ronda Rousey did an Access Hollywood interview and during it she was asked about fighting Floyd Mayweather, for some reason.  Rousey threw an awesome domestic violence jab Mayweather's way and I don't think the interviewer got it.

She answered the question by saying she knows that fighting Mayweather will never happen, "unless we ended up dating."

Boom!  Nice one Ronda.

Stephen A. Smith Compared Tom Brady To Aaron Hernandez

That's right.  Shock sports "journalist" Stephen A. Smith said on First Take Monday that, "Aaron Hernandez told Robert Kraft he was innocent too."  Those words came out of his mouth, with a straight face.

He's of course comparing Hernandez to Tom Brady and murder with deflating footballs.

Is he for real with this garbage?  Or is he now just at a point where he wants to piss people of by saying the most idiotic thing he can think up?

Check out Stephen A compare a murderer to deflated footballs.

The Marlins Hired Dan Jennings As Manager And It's Almost Like Hiring Tim Kukjian

The Miami Marlins fired manager Mike Redmond and hired their general manager Dan Jennings as the new head coach.  Jennings only managerial experience is at the high school level.  They might have been better off hiring professional weasel Tim Kurkjian.

I'm sure him getting paid to criticize such moves makes him qualified to be manager too.  Hell I'd just like to see Tim pick up a baseball and attempt to throw it.  He probably couldn't throw it more that two or three feet, but he's qualified to second guess decisions made by major league teams.  Hmmm, seems a little hypocritical of Mr. Kurkjian to question a man's qualifications.

ASU Baseball Player Got Hit With A Pitch, Caught The Ball And Threw It Back To The Pitcher

Phillies Fan Took A Home Run Ball From An Old Lady And His Jhorts Tell The Story

Check out this jhort wearing Phillies fan yank a home run ball away from an old lady.  It is Philly, so we can just add taking baseballs from old ladies to the same list as booing Santa.

Way to go Philly!  You managed to top Royals fans in the douche department.

Royals Fans Are The Worst

One of the Royals players tossed the ball into the stands in the direction of some kids, when a woman reached over and snagged the ball.  The blonde then kissed her biceps before tossing the ball to another kid.

She was then caught on camera asking for her ball back.  Because she's a young blonde and the world should hand her everything she wants.

Where is a screaming line drive into the seats when you need one?

Shelby Miller Lost A No Hitter With 2 Outs In The 9th

Shelby Miller came one out away from no hitting the Marlins on Sunday night.  He had to settle for a two hit shutout.

It would have been the first no hitter of the season and the first of Miller's career.  The shutout isn't a bad consolation prize.  Miller entered the game with a 1.60 era and a complete game shutout will lower that further.

Brady Cheated Chant Heard At Red Sox-Mariners Game

The Red Sox were in Seattle over the weekend and it sounds like the Seahawks 12th man was in attendance on Saturday night.  Chants of Brady cheated could be heard during the game.

I guess they're a little unhappy that Brady and the Patriots beat their Seahawks in the Super Bowl.  I guess they would have rather faced the Colts instead.

The Clippers Completed The Handing Of The Series To The Rockets

The Clippers employed an interesting strategy during the game 7 loss to the Rockets, hack Dwight Howard.

It looked a lot like hump Dwight Howard.  I guess desperate times call for desparate measures.

White Guys Can Jump?

Well this white guy can jump.  Notre Dame's Pat Connaughton jumped 44 inches during the NBA Combine's vertical leap earlier this week.  That's good enough for a tie for second place all time in combine history.

That type of jumping ability is going to improve his draft stock.

Stephen Curry Can't Be Stopped, Nailed A 65 Foot Buzzer Beater

Stephen Curry and the Warriors took a few games to get going but they've found their stride now.  This Curry 65 foot 3 pointer proves it.

Look out whoever they play next, Curry is draining deep 3s.

The Wizards Were This Close To Forcing Overtime

Paul Pierce hit some huge shots all series long against the Hawks.  This too would have been one of those huge shots.  But his game tying buzzer beater to force overtime was waived off because the ball was just in on his finger tips when the clock hit 0.

Did the refs get the call right?  Is the ball still in his hand?  They were this close to forcing OT and possibly a game 7.

Gregory Polanco Fell Down On A Fly Ball And Handed The Cubs A Win

This will be seen on blooper reels during rain delays for many years.  Gregory Polanco fell down attempting to get to an easy fly ball.  The miscue handed the Cubbies an extra innings win.

He appears to have slipped or lost his footing somehow.  He very well could have been shot or suffered some sort of stroke, because it looks like he just forgot how to run.

Cubs Fan Dressed Up As Wrigley Field Ivy Spotted During Kris Bryant At Bat

The Chicago Cubs franchise savior Kris Bryant hit a foul ball near a Cubs fan dressed up as Wrigley Field ivy.  Did someone say Kris Bryant?

Time to lose my mind over an unproven rookie!

Cubs fans are the worst.  Speaking of lousy Cubs fans, back to that dipshit in ivy.

Tim Lincecum Fell Off The Mound Throwing A Pitch

Tim Lincecum had a little problem with the mound in Cincinnati.  The Giants pitcher slipped multiple times while trying to throw pitches.

On this particular one Lincecum's foot slid on the rubber causing him to fall down.  He still managed to throw a pitch, but it wasn't pretty and ended up being ball four.

Cavs Win Game 6 Send The Bulls Home

The Cavs beat up the Bulls in game 6 ending their season.  They did so without Kyrie Irving who didn't play much due to injury.

It was the next man up for the Cavs and that next man was Matthew Dellavedova, who ended up leading the Cavs in scoring, and getting post game praise from LeBron James.

Roger Goodell Will Hear Tom Brady's Appeal

According to Bleacher Report's Mike Freeman, Roger Goodell will hear Tom Brady's appeal.

You see guys the NFL's punishment and appeal process is completely fair.  I have no idea what Patriots fans are complaining about.

Ted Wells just happens to work for an attorney's office that the NFL uses on a regular basis.  Goodell approved Troy Vincent's punishment and now gets to hear the appeal of that punishment.

Not to mention the fact that Vincent played for two teams that are Patriots rivals during his playing days, the Bills and Dolphins.

You guys are right, it's a fair and conflict of interest free process.

The Patriots Respond To The Wells Report With A Website

The New England Patriots launched WellsReportContext.com as their official rebuttal of the botched Wells Report that found that the Patriots likely deflated footballs, maybe.  The website has a thorough response to everything in the Wells Report.  Here is a snippet of what the site contains:
As a result, at halftime, members of the officiating crew assigned to the game, overseen by a senior officiating supervisor from the National Football League (the “NFL” or the “League”), tested the air pressure of footballs being used by each of the Patriots and the Colts. All eleven of the Patriots game balls tested measured below the minimum pressure level of 12.5 pounds per square inch (“psi”) allowed by Rule 2 of the Official Playing Rules of the National Football League (the “Playing Rules”) on both of two air pressure gauges used to test the balls. The four Colts balls tested each measured within the 12.5 to 13.5 psi range permitted under the Playing Rules on at least one of the gauges used for the tests.

This statement is not complete. Halftime psi measurements are on pg. 8. The reality is that, on the second gauge, 3 of 4 Colts footballs were below regulation. A more accurate and complete statement regarding the Colts footballs would have been: “Using two different gauges (one of which was used for pre-game psi measurements), the League tested only four Colts footballs at halftime. Three of those footballs measured below regulation on the so-called “non-Logo” gauge. Four measured at or above regulation on the so-called “Logo” gauge. One Colts football averaged below regulation when taking into account both gauges. As soon as that fourth Colts football was measured, League personnel stopped any further gauging of Colts footballs. Relying on the higher Logo gauge measurements of the Colts football, League officials decided not to add air to any of the Colts footballs. Additional measurements using the same two gauges were made post-game. Post-game, each of the four Patriots footballs measured were well above the required level of 12.5 psi on both gauges (including one that had been overinflated to 13.65 on the Logo gauge). Three of the four Colts footballs measured below 12.5 psi on the non-Logo gauge (a violation of League rules), one measured below 12.5 psi on both gauges (also a violation), and three Colts footballs measured above 12.5 on the Logo gauge.”
Looks like the NFL has a fight on their hands.  Did Roger Goodell expect the Patriots to take this lying down?  The Patriots website makes some pretty strong points about the botched investigation and it's findings.  Despite this there are going to be plenty of NFL fans that think the Patriots are guilty no matter what.  Even if Ted Wells himself said his report was factually untrue.

So for them, thanks to @NathanConley, we have yourteamcheats.com.  A website that breaks down all of the NFL teams and their past or present cheating violations.

Bryce Harper Got Ejected After Check Swing

Bryce Harper was called out on a check swing by the home plate umpire and lost his mind when the ump wouldn't check with the third base umpire.  It looks to me that Harper has a pretty strong case.

I don't think he swung at it, neither did Harper or his manager Matt Williams, who was also ejected.
