David Ortiz hit like .700 in the World Series and won the MVP award.  But should we be suspicious?  Doesn't it sound a little too good to be true?

While I despise the fact that the Red Sox won the World Series last night there is some joy to be found.  Tim McCarver has called his final game!  Finally we no longer have to put up with his rambling incoherent thoughts.

No more of this?  Come on how will we cope?



Unfortunately we still have to put up with Joe Buck and probably for many, many more years.

As much as I hate saying these words the Red Sox did win the World Series last night, stomping out the Cardinals, 6-1.

Bill Belichick lady killer!  I mean pirate.  This seems to be Bill's thing he dressed up like a pirate last year too.  Bill's girlfriend, yeah that's Bill Belichick's girlfriend, posted the pics of herself and Bill enjoying their costumes.

Sucks to be Tom Brady doesn't it?  Happy Halloween from the Patriots quarterback and his supermodel wife.

The NBA returned and the champs took the floor on the opening night.  Post game of course wouldn't be complete without a LeBron James interview.  It got even better when Chris Bosh videobombed it!

But Kobe Bryant is not.  His Lakers took on the Clippers on opening night in the battle of LA.  A pretty impressive showing by the Lakers bench led them to the win.  Kobe however,after undergoing off season surgery, was reduced to cheerleader and sideline interviewee.

15. NEW ORLEANS PELICANS

I think Mr. and Mrs. Ponder are dressed up for Halloween, although I could be mistaken.  Kids do you see what you can achieve with even the smallest amount of marginal talent.  Do you see!  That man is married to that chick.

A very large paper airplane made it's way onto the field in game 5 of the World Series but it wasn't enough to slow down Jon Lester and the Red Sox.  The Red Sox took the game 3-1 and lead the series 3 games to 2.

Former Redskins defensive lineman Dexter Manley calls Troy Aikman a "queer."  Do you remember Dexter Manley?  I grew up in the DC area when he was on the Redskins so I know him well.  He's the guy who made it all the way to the NFL without learning how to read.  The man went to college and couldn't read.

Jonny Gomes hit a three run home run that proved to be the difference for the Red Sox on Sunday night.  The homer pulled the series even at 2-2 and landed Gomes some extra attention.  Erin Andrews proves chicks dig the long ball and beards.  That's right Erin Andrews gave Jonny Gomes a little post game/mid interview beard tug.

Koji Uehara ends game 4 of the World Series by picking off Kolten Wong.  What a bizarre end to back to back World Series games.  The pick off ties the series at 2 games a piece.

Pierre Garcon makes an amazing one handed catch in the loss to Denver on Sunday afternoon.  Was it the thin air in Denver that helped him or perhaps the Redskins wide receiver is bringing back stick'um.

Game 3 of the World Series ended on an obstruction call!?  And the St. Louis Cardinals won the game 5-4 and take a lead 2-1 in the series.

The NBA is gearing up for a return to it's regular season and we all know what that means.  The return of the cheerleaders!  Check out some pics from the Minnesota Timberwolves tryouts.

High school football star, Thad Moss is the son of former NFL wide receiver Randy Moss is good at football too.  Thad can play multiple positions too, check him out.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drop to 0-7 on Thursday getting beat down by the Carolina Panthers 31-13.  Needless to say Greg Schiano's job is in trouble.

The Cardinals beat the Red Sox in game 2 of the World Series, 4-2.  Here is Joe Buck and Tim McCarver recapping the game.  If you can sit through those two you're a better person than I am!

The St. Louis Rams are so desperate they reached out to Brett Favre.  Yeah that Brett Favre and he's 44!  What about Vince Young, Tim Tebow, hell even Matt Leinart or Jemarcus Russell?  Of course the talk shows had fun with it.

Allegations that Jon Lester had a little extra something in his glove which he used to help him win have swirled around he internet all day.  There is clearly a foreign substance on the lefthander's glove and he clearly touches it with his fingers.  Whatever it was it had a green color and must have helped with his grip.

This postseason has been all about the Grand Slam for the Red Sox.  And they almost had another one in Game 1.  It was David Ortiz again but Carlos Beltran was able o reach over the fence and make the catch.  It didn't matter much as the Red Sox still won the game.

Beltan had to leave the game with a rib injury and his status for game 2 is up in the air at this point.

All around poor play by the Cardinals, the fact that the Red Sox won the game and one of the worst calls (eventually overturned) in the history of the game started off this years World Series.

Mental mistakes and errors cost the Cardinals defensively and they never were able to recover, dropping game one 8-1.

Then came one of the worst calls in the history of the sport.  They did eventually clear it up and get the call corrected but come on.  The umpire is standing right there.

How about $35 million for two years?  You guessed less?  Me too.  But the San Francisco Giants just signed Tim Lincecum to a two year deal worth $35 million dollars.  Oh and it has a no trade clause.

Lincecum is 29 years old and finished last season 10-14 and has losing seasons for the past three seasons.  Is Lincecum worth $35 million dollars?

43 year old former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia told a Cleveland radio show he reached out to the Browns.  Not about coaching or working in the front office, no.  About a work out!

"I actually reached out to the Browns and said 'work me out, take a look, I'm open to the opportunity'"

The injury bug spread throughout the NFL in weeks 7 with several players on different teams getting injured, some major too.

Josh Freeman started for the Vikings and lets just say it was different team same result. Freeman struggled to hit open receivers, often times sailing passes and finished 20 of 53 for a 37.7 completion percentage.  The Vikings ran a scaled down offense that was no match for the Giants and gave the G Men their first win of the season 23-7.

The Texans dropped their 5th straight and lost another player to injury.  Linebacker Brian Cushing is done for the year after breaking his leg and tearing a ligament.

On the other hand the Chiefs held off the Texans 17-16 to remain the lone undefeated team as the Broncos later fell to the Colts on Sunday Night football.  The Chiefs are now 7-0.  How far can they go undefeated?

Jets fan at the Jets Patriots game punches a woman.  And wait a minute is that a Wayne Chrebet jersey?  Is that Wayne Chrebet?  He was stumbling around like a man with too many concussions.  Is Wanye Chrebet running around punching women now?

The end result might not be what Peyton Manning was hoping for but the night started off well for the former Colts quarterback.  For the Colts fans it couldn't have been a better night, a close game and a Colts victory all while celebrating Peyton's return.  Could they have scripted it any better?

Jadeveon Clowney decided to play this weekend against Tennessee and even got one of his signature big hits.  Too bad for the Gamecocks it wasn't enough as they were upset 23-21.

This was the weekend of the upset in both college football and the NFL.  Favorites were dropping all day on Saturday and a couple on Sunday as well.  The Broncos fell to the Colts to round out upset weekend and at least one Colt didn't know who they were playing- calling Peyton Manning, Tom Brady.

Shane Victorino's grand slam in the 7th inning of game 6 gave the Red Sox a 5-2 lead they didn't look back from.  The Red Sox are headed back tot he World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals in a rematch of the 2004 World Series.  The games kick off Wednesday night at Fenway.

The St. Louis Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-0 in game 6 and advanced to the World Series.  The game started with a 12 minute stand off and that was the most entertaining part of this one sided contest.

Rob Gronkowski announces return to the field on youtube hours after agent Drew Rosenhaus announced he was cleared to play.  Man this is kind of ridiculous.  It's like a "this is why I wasn't out there yet," video.

Former NFL lineman, Matt Birk drops 75 lbs. and enters modelling contest.  His playing weight of 310 was something the lineman always knew he would drop when his playing days were done.  That time came in February when the Baltimore Ravens lineman announced his retirement.  See what he looks like now here.

The lowly 1-5 UNC Tarheels had a lead against the number 10 ranked Miami Hurricanes but couldn't hold it.  Miami put up 14 points in the 4th quarter to pull off the 27-23 come from behind win.  Via Busted Coverage:

The Red Sox beat the Tigers Thursday night 4-3 and lead the series 3-2.  They're one win away from the World Series.  The Red Sox used one big inning to put away the Tigers in game 5.

Like an old incompetent John Madden, somehow Fox still throws Tim McCarver out there to announce baseball games.  It takes a toll on all of the people who try to watch the game and it has clearly taken its toll on Joe Buck (who by the way isn't much better than McCarver).

But at least with Joe Buck he doesn't constantly refer to old players who nobody's ever heard of like McCarver does.  Or somehow relate everything to when he played.  We get it Tim you're old, now shut the hell up!  Via Deadspin:

Josh Freeman will start Monday Night against the New York Giants, the Vikings announced on Twitter.  Not a bad team to start against.  It will be hard to tell if he plays well or not with how poorly the Giants have played.

Jake Peavy was roughed up on Wednesday giving up 7 runs in 3+ innings of work.  Jim Leyland shook up the Tigers lineup for game 4 and it appears to have worked as the Tigers never looked back after the 7 runs in the first 3 innings and evened the series 2 game to 2, beating the Red Sox 7-3.

The Dodgers aren't out of it yet.  Led by Adrian Gonzalez, they hit 4 home runs to take game 5 of the NLCS 6-4 and force a game 6.

Mike Napoli's home rum proved to be the difference in game 3 of the ALCS as the Red Sox took the game and now lead the best of 7, 2-1.

Matt Holliday's deep home run helped the Cardinals take game 4 and extend their series lead to 3-1.  The Dodgers fought back but in the end the Cardinals were too much winning game 4, 4-2.

You would think the Red Sox had just won the ALCS with the intensity of their celebration.  During the post game interview with Jarrod Saltalamacchia the contents of a Gatorade pitcher was tossed all over Erin Andrews.  She took it like a pro as it looks like very little hit Saltalamacchia.

Tom Brady could do that!  Especially when given two chances.  Tom Brady was picked off late in the 4th quarter Sunday all but sealing the game for the New Orleans Saints except for the fact that the Saints couldn't run the clock out and had to give Tom Brady and the Patriots the ball back with a little over a minute on the clock.

Whether or not you agree with Bob Costas on the substance of what he had to say about the name Redskins isn't what I have issue with.  I agree with him that its at the very least insensitive and at the most a racial slur.

Matt Schaub has been the Houston Texans fans punching bag for the past few weeks as his play hasn't been up to par but he's not the only Texan not playing well.  Their defense has been inconsistent as well.

Sunday the fans let Matt Schaub know exactly how they feel about him, cheering when the quarterback went down with an ankle injury.

On the verge of going down 2 games to none with two outs in the 8th and the bases loaded, David Ortiz hit a grand slam that tied the game at 5.


Jim Leyland brought in the Tigers closer, Joaquin Benoit (BALLS), to face Ortiz.  Ortiz didn't waste much time hitting the first pitch into the Red Sox bullpen.  Torii Hunter made a heck of an effort but came up short jumping and falling into the bullpen.  Lets not forget the squatting catch made by the bullpen catcher either.

Ortiz's grand slam tied the game in the 8th and left the door open for Jarrod Saltalamacchia and his disgusting wet pube head, to win the game with a hit in the 9th.

Via Fox Sports: Detroit Nearly No Hit the Red Sox

Sanchez and four relievers came within two outs of the first combined no-hitter in postseason history, striking out 17 to beat Boston 1-0 in the series opener on Saturday night. 

''I wasn't worried about a no-hitter,'' Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. ''Would have been nice. There were several guys involved. But it worked out well for us.''

That's right if you caught that, Anibal Sanchez was pulled after 6 innings and a no hitter still intact.

So of course I'm gonna post it!

Who cares about the Texans struggling quarterback?  Especially when you have a cheer leading squad capable of this!

The New York Giants played better overall but Eli Manning threw 3 more picks and the biggest one came at the end of the game.  The Bears being the Bears let the Giants stay in the game, because that's how they roll.

What is next for the Giants?  At 0-6 and with Eli struggling the way he is, they might be playing for the number one pick in next years draft and ultimately his replacement.  While Eli is a two time Super Bowl winning quarterback with skills, his play this season is so bad he might be playing his way out of New York.

The Detroit Tigers rode the arm of pitcher Justin Verlander and took game 5 of the ALDS pretty easily as Verlander held the A's to 2 hits over 8 innings.

The Oakland A's begin their off season and the Tigers advance to face the Boston Red Sox.

UFC president, Dana White is not pleased with one of his fighters.  That fighter is Rousimar Palhares. Palhares, didn't let go of his submission and had to be physically removed. Dana White responded by taking away the fighters submission of the night bonus. Harsher punishment could be next.

The St. Louis Cardinals sent the Pittsburgh Pirates packing after defeating them Wednesday night.  The Pirate begin their off season and the Cardinals head to the NLCS and the waiting Dodgers.

There must have been rumors Matt Schaub's home was being attacked because the Houston Police sent out a tweet to clarify it.

The Boston Red Sox ended the Tampa Bay Ray's season beating them in Tampa in game four of the ALDS.  The Red Sox advance and keep playing in the post season and the Rays season is over.

How much of a legend is Carlos Beltran in the postseason?  Let's just say Babe Ruth.  He just passed Ruth on the all time postseason home run list.  Of course Ruth didn't have all of the playoff rounds to rack them up in but still 8th on the all time post season home run list is still impressive.

Here are the final two strikes of the Atlanta Braves season and Dodger stadium going nuts afterward.  The Dodgers have advanced to the next round of the MLB playoffs while the Braves head home to begin the off season.

The A's, Grant Balfour and Tigers, Victor Martinez, exchange words in the 9th inning of Game 3 of the ALDS.  I'm not sure what Balfour had an issue with but he was unhappy about something.

Ex Tamp Bay Buccaneer, Josh Freeman, has reportedly joined the Minnesota Vikings singing a one year deal worth $3 Million dollars.  I wonder what this means for Christian Ponder's future.  It was reported Freeman wasn't going to sign anywhere as a backup.

Being a Yankee fan this time of year when they're out of it is no fun and I quickly move to football.  So admittedly I've pretty much stopped watching as I secretly or not so secretly hope that Girardi signs with the Cubs.

50 year old former NBA sharp shooter Chris Mullen hasn't lost his touch even at the age of 50.  He out shot the Kings sharp shooter, Jimmer Fredette.  The three point contest was setup by the owner of Kings and Mullen got into the action because he recently joined the Kings' front office.

Yesterday Alex Rodriguez filed a lawsuit against MLB, The Office of the Commissioner of MLB and the commissioner himself, Bud Selig.

In part the lawsuit claims:

The Colorado Avalanche beat the crap out of the Anaheim Dicks 6-1.  But that wasn't good enough for Avalanche coach, Patrick Roy.  Roy was upset after the win and pushed over the separator between the two teams.  All that after his first win!  I hate to see what happens when he loses.

My dream of Terry Francona facing the Red Sox and destroying them is now over.  The Cleveland Indians fell to the Tampa Bay Rays last night 4-0.  The Rays continue to play well and are getting hot at the right time.

Toronto Maple Leaf, Colton Orr, did a pretty good hip toss or something of George Parros of the Canadiens.  Parros slammed his face on the ice during the fall.  A fall that knocked him out and cut his chin.  But there is good news his mustache appeared to be unharmed!

Fans burn a Matt Schaub jersey after loss to Seattle.

Matt Schaub threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown that tied the game on Sunday.  A game the Texans were winning 20-3 and lost 23-20 to Seattle.  Who gets the blame?  Schaub!  Did he throw a costly pick?  Yeah but he didn't give up 20 unanswered points, did he?  Quarterback gets the praise and the blame.

Terrell Suggs claims Roger Goodell was responsible for the blackout at the Super Bowl last year.  He's not alone retired Raven, Ray Lewis, also believes Goodell was responsible for the blackout.  At the time the Ravens had a big lead and the blackout sparked a comeback by the 49ers.

Either way the Ravens won the game so why even say anything?

Geno Smith showed this weekend that he too can fumble off of a butt.  He raised Mark Sanchez' butt fumble by fumbling off of his own backside.  Jets quarterbacks must be able to fumble off of a butt.

Game 163 was needed this year to decide the final wild card spot in the AL.  The Tampa Bay Rays rode the left arm of David Price who pitched a complete game while only allowing 2 runs.  The Rays took the game 5-2.  The fantastic start by Price not only got them into the postseason but rested their bullpen for it.
