Incredible Pick Six in College Game

Mercer's, Alex Avant, yeah Mercer so you know really quality football, anyway made an incredible pick six after the ball was tipped in the air.  The interception helped Mercer beat Drake 31-17.

Jacksonville Fans Want Tim Tebow

Jacksonville fans made it clear they want Tim Tebow!  Flying a plane over the game Sunday with a really good argument.  "TEBOW, WHY NOT?"  Can't argue with that.

Katherine Webb Did One of those Carl's Jr. Things!

Katherine Webb, girlfriend of Alabama quarterback, AJ McCarron, is staring in one of those Carl's Jr. ads and it is awesome!

Bloody Sunday in the NFL

Plenty of bloody battles in the NFL that included two players being carted off the field.

Patriots remain undefeated, the Bills and Browns both pull off upsets, the Texans blow a 17 point lead, the Giants are still win less, while the Chiefs post a 4-0 record.  See all of the week 4 scores here.

A Wild Pitch Walk Off No Hitter in Miami

Henderson Alvarez of the Miami Marlins threw a no hitter on the last day of the season against the Detroit Tigers.  While the teams are going in opposite directions with the Tigers headed to the postseason and the Marlins headed home the no hit win gives the Marlins something to look forward to next season.

See the wild pitch walk off that preserved the no hitter for Henderson Alvarez.

Glee's Naya Rivera Celebrates Brothers TD

Glee star Naya Rivera was on hand to celebrate her brother, Oakland Raiders tight end, Mychal Rivera. And lets just say sometimes fans make the best cheerleaders!

Is she throwing up gang signs?

Robinson Cano Wants $305 Million

Robinson Cano reportedly wants a 10 year deal worth $305 million dollars.  As a Yankee fan myself I say let him go!  While Robinson Cano is a good hitter (not great) he's an average fielder who on occasion lacks focus.  If he thinks he's worth $305 million let him go find out if someone is willing to pay for maybe 5 really good seasons and probably a steady decline after that.

He may even have a few great seasons but he's not worth tying up your franchise for the next 10 years.  Hopefully the younger Steinbrenners have learned from their father A-Rod mistake.  I think they have.

I think Cano knows he's not going to get that contract from the Yankees, via ESPN :
"Oh, yeah, who knows? Who knows what's going to happen," he said. "I'm just enjoying being here, and I'm going to enjoy the last day, being here with all these guys. Nobody said I'm leaving; nobody said I'm staying. I haven't decided anything yet. Let's see what happens after the World Series."

Dana White talks Silva vs Weidman II

Our favorite league commissioner, if you will, Dana White.  Who has done a hell of a job running the UFC, talks about Silva vs Weidman II, among other topics.

Josh Freeman Benched

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have benched quarterback Josh Freeman after only three games.  Of course the Bucs haven't won any of those games and after drafting a quarterback last year they decide to start him.  The rookie quarterback is Mike Glennon from North Carolina State.  He was the third QB taken in the draft behind EJ Manuel and Geno Smith.

Carlos Gomez Acts Like an Asshole After Hitting a Home Run

Carlos Gomez acts like an asshole after hitting a home run but the Braves don't let him get away with it.  Brian McCann blocks home plate and Carlos Gomez gets ejected without stepping on home.  Needless to say the benches clear.

It's The Preseason and there Was Already a Hockey Fight!

America's 4th past time is still in preseason mode but that didn't stop these two from fighting!  Fighting is the top reason to watch hockey just like crashes in NASCAR, it gives us something to cheer for.

NFLPA Steps In To Question Raiders Concussion Protocall

Oakland Raiders quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, suffered a concussion during Monday night's loss to the Broncos, yet was allowed to stay in and play two additional snaps before being removed and evaluated.

Shouldn't the NFLPA also speak to players about leading with their helmets and head to head collisions?  After all isn't that just as much a part of this as anything else?  They claim they have the players best interest in mind when they do things like this, but players continue to have avoidable helmet to helmet contact.

I get that it's part of the game and some of the helmet to helmet stuff is avoidable but there is still a lot of avoidable helmet to helmet contact happening.

Andy Pettitte Makes Final Start at Yankee Stadium

Andy Pettitte, made his final start Sunday at Yankee stadium.  He pitched well and at the age of 41 made it into the 8th inning, where he walked off the mound at Yankee stadium for probably the last time.  The With the Yankees unlikely to make it to the playoffs, the fans and players all knew it was his last start at Yankee stadium.

Seattle Pitcher Brandon Maurer Thinks It's Strike 3

Seattle Mariners pitcher, Brandon Maurer, throws a pitch that he thinks is strike three but apparently they can't count in the great northwest because it was only strike two.  I keep hearing how talented the Mariners are, loaded with young talent.  Where are the wins?

Lets just start with counting first.  There are three strikes needed for a strikeout.  One, two- now here comes the tricky part, THREE!  Good job.

Wacha Wacha Loses No Hitter With Two Out in the 9th

St. Louis Cardinals rookie pitcher, Michael Wacha, came within one out of throwing a no hitter in just his 9th big league start.  He gave up a weakly hit infield single with two outs in the 9th.  A tough play for any short stop and he almost had the runner at first.  Still 8 2/3 of one hit ball against one of the better lineups in the NL, not bad.

Rashad Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals Loses Tip of His Finger Trying to Make a Tackle Tweets Pic!

Arizona Cardinals safety, Rashad Johnson, loses the tip of his middle finger Sunday trying to make a tackle.  No really the tip of his middle finger is now gone and he tweeted it for everyone to see.

See the graphic pic below.

Which 0-3 Team is Most Surprising?

Out of the NFL's 0-3 teams which one is the most surprising?  It's probably one of the teams from the NFC east.  Although the Giants have been consistently inconsistent the past few years so that's probably not that big of a surprise.  And if you've seen the Redskins play they really deserve to be 0-4 without playing 4 games because of how poorly their defense has played.

So if it's not either of those teams who is the most surprising 0-3 team?

Steelers?
Jaguars?
Vikings?
Buccaneers?

Or is it one of these two:

Giants?
Redskins?

Maybe it's none of these and the surprising teams are the ones at 1-2.

Eagles?
Packers?
Chargers?
49ers?

Orioles Beat Up By The Rays

Manny Machado suffered a gruesome injury to his knee after running to first on a ground ball.  But that wasn't all.  The second baseman almost makes an incredible catch before slamming his head into the right fielders leg.  And to top it off the Rays won the game 5-4.

Red Sox, Braves And A's All Clinch!

Three teams clinched playoff births by winning their divisions.  All were not preseason picks.  The Red Sox were of course supposed to be run over by the Blue Jays, the Nationals were supposed to steamroll the Braves and the Angels or Rangers were supposed to win the AL West, not the A's.

But here we are with the celebrations to prove it and the wild card races as tight as they've ever been.

Jay Cutler Runs Over Steelers Defensive Back

Rex (2 Chainz) Ryan and the Jets Hold On to Win

Rex Ryan's chains must have brought him some luck as the Jets held off the Bill to win 27-20 on Sunday afternoon.  The Jets tried to lose with 18 penalties but Rex's magic chains wouldn't allow it.  They held off a late surge by the Bills and took home the victory to go 2-1 and the young season.

Mark Sanchez and his hairband were also obviously a factor, although I think he secretly wants them to fail so when he's able he can come back and start.  It doesn't look good for him as rookie Geno Smith has played well.

OVERRATED!?

Colin Kaepernick and the San Francisco 49ers dropped their second straight game as they were beaten 27-7 by the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.  It's the second straight week they failed to score double digits.  Colin Kaepernick had a QB rating of 49.9 following up on his 20.1 from the previous week.  Kaepernick and the entire offense have looked horrible.

So are the 49ers and Colin Kaepernick overrated?  Has he been figured out?  I say YES on all counts.

Certainly they've had one of the toughest schedules to open the season (excuse) but they went to the Super Bowl last season, what do they expect?  And it's not like their schedule will stay this hard.  It of course eases up and they will probably play better, but don't forget how bad they were in these two games, so you won't be surprised when they run into good teams and start losing again!

Metallica Performed at Mariano Rivera Day

Mariano Rivera, who is retiring at the end of the year, was honored at Yankee stadium today.  The Yankees closer has entered the game to Metallica's Enter Sandman for years now and entered his day with Metallica performing the song live.

Isaiah Battle Ejected for Uppercut

Clemson offensive lineman, Isaiah Battle, was ejected Thursday night for punching an NC State player in the jaw. The uppercut occurred in the middle of the field in front of the refs and he was ejected. The Mike Tyson style punch was caught on tape for our enjoyment.

Andy Reid Can't Get Away From Sal Paolantonio

There are plenty of good reasons to stay away from Sal Paolantonio, his hair, his teeth- the list goes on. Andy Reid tried real hard to avoid an interview after taking down the Eagles in Philly. But Sal got him, if only for a few awkward moments.

Andy Reid Returned to Philly

And he's still fat, just in red now and not green.

Andy Ried brought the Chiefs into his old stomping grounds to play!  The Chiefs took an early lead and held on through half time.  And never looked back winning the game 26-16 and going 3-0 on the year.  Yeah that's right the Chiefs are 3-0 and already have more wins this year than they did last season.

The NFL is Still All About The Cheerleaders

Whenever they get a chance to NFL cameramen have been cutting away to cheerleaders!  It seems like an incredible amount of times so far in the young season and Thursday Night football was no different.  This must be one of those initiatives put in place so we'll all forget about the concussion problem.  IT"S WORKING!

Cleveland Browns Believe the 0-2 Start Equals No Playoffs: Traded Trent Richardson

The Cleveland Browns have already thrown the towel on on the 2013 season.  They traded their number one running back and former number 3 pick, Trent Richardson, to the Colts for a first round draft pick.  The also named Brian Hoyer the starting quarterback for this weeks game against the Vikings.

Matt Harvey Was An Asshole on the Dan Patrick Show

Did we expect anything else from today's modern day athlete?  Matt Harvey came out of nowhere and suddenly he's some sort of God because he's the best pitcher on a lousy Mets team.  So of course he was an asshole to Dan Patrick.

Somehow We Missed This!

The New England Patriots cheerleaders performed in the rain on Thursday night and it was the best thing about the game.

Let Me Introduce You to the "Butt Slide"

This slide pretty much sums up the Houston Astros season.  Jonathan Villar was attempting to stretch a single into a double and was not only tagged out by Brandon Phillips but also got a face full of butt.

The worst part of the whole thing to me is that it takes away from a pretty awesome between the legs tag by Phillips.  Villar probably has some other ideas on the worst part.

Big Hit on Vernon Davis

This big hit on Vernon Davis describes the entire night for the 49ers on Sunday.  The Seahawks dominated and punished them.  Beating one of the NFC's favorites easily, 29-3.

They Still Don't Know How to Tackle in the NFL

The Redskins' Brandon Meriweather dives head first into Packers running back Eddie Lacy, knocking Lacy out and giving himself a concussion.  Yet I still hear arguments that NFL players know how to tackle.  If this is any evidence of their tackling form (and it is) then NFL players still need a lot of instruction on proper tackling techniques.

Arizona State's Two in the Pink One in the Stink!

Arizona State battled Wisconsin last night and the ASU fans were two in the pink one in the stink crazy.  ASU won the game 32-30 with a bit of controversy at the end of the game.  While most are discussing the controversy, I'm celebrating the two in the pink one in the stink foam finger!

Johnny Manziel Had a Record Setting Day but A&M Still Fell to Alabama

Johnny Manziel was 28 of 39, for 464 yards passing and 98 yards with his feet.  He had a great game but with his team driving and down 28-14 he threw a critical pick six that would seal their fate.  Alabama was too much and held on for the 49-42 victory.

Who's Ready For Some College Football?

Obvious the USC faithful are unhappy with coach Lane Kiffin after their sad performance and loss last week.  Can he redeem himself?  What will Johnny Manziel do for a follow up performance?  Gotta wait and watch!

Welker Tweets Praise For Edelman

Wes Welker tweeted praise for Julian Edelman on Thursday night during the Patriots sloppy win over the Jets.  The Patriots and Tom Brady probably wish they still had Wes Welker.  The reason Edelman had such a good game was the fact that Brady couldn't pay anybody else to catch the ball.
With Danny Amedola out with an injury and Rob Gronkowski still recovering from off season surgery the Patriots leaned heavily on Edelman, who provided the only bright spot for the receiving core.

I wouldn't say that the Patriots are in trouble, because I think Tom Brady will make those other guys better, but they can't be all that thrilled with the performance.  A performance that did earn them a second straight win against a divisional opponent.  But a 13-10 win over the Jets isn't their style.

Jeter Shutdown For The Season...Is His Career In Jeopardy?

Speculation that Derek Jeter's career might be in jeopardy has swirled around New York all season.  Injury after injury and now being shutdown for the remainder of the season, a season that could see the Yankees in the postseason.

They currently sit a game out of the last wild card spot in the AL and have a real shot at capturing it.

Braves and Marlins Get Into It

Marlins pitching phenom Jose Fernandez took exception to Evan Gattis' gaze at his home run.  He exchanged words with Chris Johnson during Johnson's at bat.  Then Fernandez hit a home run of his own- stood and watched it, then spit towards Johnson as he rounded third.  When Fernandez reached the plate Brian McCann had some words for the young pitcher and of course the benches cleared.

No Quarterback Controversy For The Jets!

That's because Mark Sanchez is likely to have surgery and end his 2013 season before it began.  He was seen by sports genius, Dr. James Andrews, who confirmed a labral tear in Sanchez' right shoulder that requires surgery.

Pee Wee Football Kid Tears Up His Opponents On His Way To An Amazing Score

This young kid from Alabama is setting the internet on fire with this amazing run as his team stands by an watches.  This video even made its way to ESPN and with good reason the kid takes on and schools the entire opposing team.

Because the team is 20+ games out of it and why else would they come to the game?  When your team sucks you gotta get creative.

Oklahoma State University Allegations

Are we surprised?  And shouldn't the players, who bring in an enormous amount of money for these schools, be paid anyway?

The Sports Illustrated piece comes out after the statues of limitations has run out, not that it matters because the NCAA is a joke anyway.

Giants Pull Bubble Gum Prank on Photographer

Does everyone remember when the Giants were good?  Seems like just a couple of years ago.  Now they're 20.5 games out of first and playing September baseball just to play baseball.  So they have plenty of time and energy to put into placing gum on the hats of photographers.

The First Week In Football Brought Us Two Cheerleader Ass Shaking Moments

The cameramen have done a great job giving us not one but two cheerleader ass shaking videos in week 1.

The first happened on Thursday night during the Broncos/Ravens game.

The second came on Monday night, the second game between the Chargers and the Texans.  Now I don't want to sound ungrateful but I think we can get a few more in week 2- STEP UP YOUR GAME CAMERAMEN!

A Pennsylvania High School Football Player Hit Another Player With His Own Helmet

Pennsylvania High School football got down and dirty last Friday night when a fight broke out in the middle of the game.

Hamburg High senior Joey Cominsky ripped the helmet of Annville Cleona's Josh Hartmann off and hit him twice in the head with it, while he was on the ground.

So what happens next?  Besides an obvious suspension, how about criminal charges.  The police are considering criminal charges.

Buck Showalter and Joe Girardi Get Into a Heated Confrontation

Buck Showalter and Joe Girardi got into a heated confrontation during Monday night's game in Baltimore.  Girardi accused the Orioles third base coach of stealing signs an accusation that didn't sit well with Showalter.

Chip Kelly's Offense Works in the NFL

On Monday night we learned that the Chip Kelly offense does in fact work in the NFL.  But the Eagles need to finish off their opponents and run the offense for the entire game.

We also learned the preseason has a purpose!  RGIII came out extremely rusty and it took the better part of three quarters for him to shake it off.  It didn't help that his running back, Alfred Morris, had two fumbles one of those fumbles resulting in another NFL safety.

Bottom line too many turnovers and too many flags!  As this chick in a Chris Cooley jersey was able to figure out.

Eminem's Weird Interview at Halftime of the Michigan Game

Derek Jeter Hurts Ankle Again

Derek Jeter is back out of the lineup again for the Yankees after aggravating his surgically repaired ankle.  Jeter has played in just 17 games this season for the Bronx Bombers and is out indefinitely, again.  Is the Yankees captain's career in jeopardy at this point?

Derek Jeter has been on the DL several times with several different leg issues and this is the second time he's aggravated the ankle, which he broke in the playoffs last season.

The Yankees are hanging in the playoff wild card hunt at 2.5 games back, despite his absence.  If his career isn't over is his days at shortstop?

Sunday Football Was Awesome

This dude was amazed by Sunday's football action, either that or he heard Erin Andrews fart!  See the scores below.

Clay Matthews' Late Hit on Colin Kaepernick

Jim Harbaugh spent all week complaining about the Packers tough talk regarding the 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.  Apparently Clay Matthews wasn't phased by Harbaugh's complaining and slammed Kaepernick to the turf when the QB was clearly out of bounds.

The play ultimately costed the Packers the game.  On the play Matthews was flagged for the late hit but a 49er was also flagged for getting into it with Matthews.  The officials mistakenly ruled a replay of down due to the offsetting penalties and instead of 4th down and 2, they replayed 3rd down and the 49ers scored on the play.

Pirates Break 20 Year "Sid Bream Curse"

Sid Bream of course ended the Pirates 1992 season with a slide into home plate that advanced the Braves to the World Series.  Then 20 consecutive losing season.

The 2013 Pirates won their 81st came on Tuesday ensuring at least a .500 season (assuming they lose out, highly unlikely!).  The Pirates sit on top of the NL Central at the moment, a game and a half up on the Cardinals and look destined to play postseason baseball, for the first time since 1992.

We Have Our First "Drop the Ball at the One Yard Line Almost Touchdown of the Year"

It seems to happen every year and this year we didn't have to wait long to see one.  Danny Trevathan had a pick six and dropped the ball before getting into the end zone.

He later stated he though he was in the end zone, but you can clearly see the ball come out before he crossed the goal line.  The ball after Trevathan dropped it went out of the back of the end zone resulting in a touch back and Ravens ball.

It was a minor blemish on an otherwise fantastic night for the Broncos.
