Ray Rice Just Threw A Hail Mary On His Football Career
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ray Rice wants back in the NFL in the worst way. He just threw what he hopes is a career saving hail mary by offering to donate his entire 2016 salary to domestic violence prevention.

Ray Rice Isn't Giving Up On Playing In The NFL
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ray Rice talked with Dan Patrick about his hope to play in the NFL again. The fact that the former Ravens running back hasn't found a new home in the NFL tells you a lot about his last year in the league.
I think he averaged like 3 yards a carry or something.
To me Rice still remaining unsigned has more to do with his yards per carry than anything else. I mean teams have signed some other guys in similar situation, looking at you Dallas, because they can still produce on the field.

Deadspin Posted Pictures Of Greg Hardy's Ex-Girlfriend After He Assaulted Her
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Any doubts about whether Greg Hardy assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Holder, can be thrown right out the window. I don't think she was making it up one bit and if Ray Rice is no longer in this league Hardy shouldn't be either.
There are bruises all over her. Head over to Deadspin to see the disturbing pictures and the full report, then tell me with a straight face that Hardy didn't do anything and he doesn't deserve any jail time.

Oh Good Ray Rice Is Talking To Kids
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ray Rice was back in Baltimore and was donating uniforms to cheerleaders or something. Rice took a little bit of time away from staring at the phone waiting for an NFL team to call to be with the kids. He spoke to and hung out with the them during his visit. I'm glad he's the guy the school decided to allow to visit and speak to the kids.

Patrick Kane Addressed The Sexual Assualt Allegations Prior To Th Blackhawks Training Camp
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Chicago Blackhawks have decided to allow Patrick Kane to attend training camp despite the sexual assault accusation he's facing. Kane read a short statement that pretty much said he wasn't going to talk about it but he didn't do anything wrong.
Kane then answered questions. Well questions about hockey anyway. Pretty much the only thing we learned is that Kane will be attending training camp.
The press conference looked a lot like the one the Ravens originally had for Ray Rice.

The Bills Have Joined The List Of Teams Interested In Ray Rice
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
If this tweet is correct, the Bills have joined the Browns as the only teams to publicly express interest in Ray Rice. The free agent running back is patiently waiting for his second chance in the NFL.
Will he ever get one? His chances increase with every team that expresses interest.
Let's be real, if in the season before his domestic violence incident occured Rice averaged 5 yards a carry he'd already be on a roster.

With LeSean McCoy out a few weeks, the Bills have begun internal discussions on whether to explore signing Ray Rice, sources say.

Is Ray Rice Another Step Closer To A Return To The NFL?
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ray Rice might be getting closer to a return to the NFL. There are plenty of teams who need help at running back. One of those teams is the Cleveland Browns.
Prior to last night's Browns-Redskins pre-season game last night, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said he was open to Rice joining the Browns, via ESPN:
It will be interesting to see if Rice gets another shot in the NFL and what type of reception he'll receive from fans.

Haslam told ESPN’s Bob Holtzman he’d like to see Rice get another chance, and he’s OK if that’s with the Browns. But Haslam added that the decision would be made by his football people. The comments by Haslam comes just days after Browns head coach, Mike Pettine, mention the possibility of the disgraced running back getting a shot with the Browns.

The Cleveland Browns Are Considering Signing Ray Rice
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine admitted that they're contemplating signing Ray Rice. Teams have been unwilling to sign Rice following his domestic violence incident.
This is the first I've heard of a team even thinking about signing Rice. It's definitely the first team that has said so publicly.

Ray Rice Is Ready For A Comeback After His "Mental Injury" Year
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ray Rice sat down with ESPN's Jemele Hill to talk about a second chance in the NFL and claimed to be a rehabilitated man. He took last year as an injury year, "not physical, it was mental."
He did sit in a room with Hill and not strike her, so that's a good sign. It's also a moment that points to his rehabilitation.
Will he ever play in the NFL again? I have a feeling if he was averaging 5 yards a carry he would be in training camp somewhere.

I guess Real Sports is doing some sort of domestic violence in sports special or something. They sat down with porn star Christy Mack and discussed the attack by her ex boyfriend a former MMA fighter who went by the name War Machine. The episode is set to air Tuesday July 21st at 10:00 pm on HBO, via Cage Potato:

The Cowboys Signed Greg Hardy To A One Year Deal
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Dallas Cowboys have signed former Carolina Panther Greg Hardy to an incentive heavy deal.
The dominate defensive lineman spent the majority of last season on the commissioner's exempt list, due to a domestic violence case that has since been dropped.
Hardy is of course not the only member of the exempt list that the Cowboys have expressed interest in. They've also been rumored to be interested in acquiring Adrian Peterson from the Vikings.
Who knows maybe they will decide to go for the home run and sign Ray Rice while they're at it.

NFL.com Reported The Dez Bryant Incident Took Place In 2011
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ian Rapoport reported on NFL.com that the Dez Bryant incident at Wal Mart happened in July of 2011. The police were called, but no charges were filed.
I have learned via another open-records request that in mid-2011 there was an additional incident involving Bryant. A report filed by the Lancaster (Texas) Police Department described the response by an officer to "an unknown disturbance" in a Walmart parking lot during the early morning of July 11. Vehicles registered to Bryant were at the scene in the parking lot, and Bryant later arrived in another car, when he was spoken to by a Lancaster PD officer. Upon further investigation, "it was determined that there was no offense" and "all parties were advised they were free to go."There must be more to the story and if a video exists it must tell that story. It sounds like someone is going to get a nice payday if the video shows some Ray Rice stuff going down.

Ray Rice Won His Appeal, Reinstated By The NFL
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Ray Rice won his appeal and former U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones found that Rice had not misled Roger Goodell, via ESPN:
"In this arbitration, the NFL argues that Commissioner Goodell was misled when he disciplined Rice the first time. Because, after careful consideration of all of the evidence, I am not persuaded that Rice lied to, or misled, the NFL at his June interview, I find that the indefinite suspension was an abuse of discretion and must be vacated," Jones' decision stated.
"I find that the NFLPA carried its burden of showing that Rice did not mislead the Commissioner at the June 16th meeting, and therefore, that the imposition of a second suspension based on the same incident and the same known facts about the incident, was arbitrary," Jones also wrote. So Rice is free to sign with a new team, if any are willing. Also it appears as if Goodell and the NFL are the ones misleading and hiding facts.

Adrian Peterson Doesn't Want To Be Compared To Ray Rice
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Adrian Peterson did an interview with USA Today Sports and talked about his recent suspension and the events that led up to it.
During his interview Peterson says he's done using switches and will punish his children in other ways going forward. He expresses remorse for leaving marks on his son and reveals he's been working with a therapist and a pastor.

"No one knows how I felt when I turned my child around after spanking him and seeing what I had left on his leg," Peterson said. "No one knows that Dad sat there and apologized to him, hugged him and told him that I didn't mean to do this to you and how sorry I was.

The NBA Is Serious About Domestic Violence, Jeff Taylor Suspended 24 Games
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
Well it's a more severe punishment percentage wise, than Ray Rice's original two game suspension. Damn you NBA for making me do math.
But yes it is. Rice was originally suspended for 12.5 percent of his team's games and Taylor is suspended for 29 percent of his team's games. But is that enough? Does that really mean the NBA is serious about domestic violence?
Charlotte Hornets forward, Jeff Taylor, plead guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence. This was the result of an incident where Taylor pushed his girlfriend into a hotel wall, causing damage to the wall.
The Hornets suspended him with pay the following day. The punishment handed down by NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, states he will be credited for the 11 games he's already missed.
So essentially Charlotte suspended him for 11 games and the NBA will be suspending Taylor for only 13 games or about 16 percent of his team's games.

Current And Former NFL Players Did A No More Video
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

The NFL is attempting to patch up all of the issues caused by their handling of the Ray Rice domestic violence incident. We've all seen the No More commercial featuring celebrities now the NFL has current and former players in one.
I think it's great if they actually start taking appropriate action the next time this happens in the NFL. Otherwise it's just a PR stunt.

Some dude went to a Halloween party dressed as Ray Rice, complete with a KO'd Janay Rice. You knew someone was going to do it right?
I mean people will dress up for Halloween as just about anything. The real question is what kind of douche has a Halloween party in the middle of October.

Drew Brees Critical of Roger Goodell Wants a New Disciplinary System
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

Drew Brees spoke out on the NFL and Roger Goodell's handling of disciplinary issues over the past few years. Brees is obviously referring to the "Bounty Gate" scandal that the Saints were involved in, in addition to the Ray Rice situation.
Brees' message was pretty clear, he had this to say about what he thinks the system should be- "You want due process. You want a fair process. You want a transparent process."

The Ravens Released a Formal Rebuttal of the ESPN Outside The Lines Report
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The Baltimore Ravens, as promised, released a formal statement regarding the Outside The Lines report that they attempted to cover up or reduce the punishment for Ray Rice.
The 15 point response takes on the OTL report and refutes the report point by point, via Ravens:
The 15 point response takes on the OTL report and refutes the report point by point, via Ravens:
1. From the article: (the reporters) found a pattern of misinformation and misdirection employed by the Ravens and the NFL since that February night.
Steve Bisciotti (Ravens Owner): “As I stated in our letter to you on September 9, we did not do all we should have done, and no amount of explanation can remedy that. But there has been no misdirection or misinformation by the Ravens. We have stated what we knew and what we thought throughout – from the original report of the incident, to the release of the first videotape, to the release of the second videotape, which revealed a much harsher reality. As we said in our response to ESPN’s questions on Friday, it was our understanding based on Ray's account that in the course of a physical altercation between the two of them he slapped Janay with an open hand, and that she hit her head against the elevator rail or wall as she fell to the ground.”

Can Someone Please Tell Me What Ray Lewis is Talking About
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

Ray Lewis was on ESPN NFL Countdown with his suit and his glasses, because everyone knows glasses make you smarter, rambling on about Ray Rice and the Ravens. During his "intelligent" talk, complete with preacher pauses, he said "there are some things you can cover up and then there's some things you can't."
Yeah Ray Lewis talking about things you can and can't cover up. The point of the entire rambling seems to be don't blame the Ravens for doing all they could to hide facts and get a reduced punishment from the courts and the NFL.
Not a chance in hell that happend Ray. Sure the entire thing was caused by Ray Rice but there was an appropriate response to those actions and the upper management of the Ravens failed to properly act.
They deserve to be punished for their attempts to hide the truth and reduce the severity of what took place.
