36 year old Matt Holliday fractured his thumb during the extra innings loss to the Cubs last night. The injury occurred when he was hit by a pitch in the 10th inning.
After the game he was hopeful that his season wasn't over. The veteran outfielder has a team option next season that has a buyout of $1 million dollars.
So if his season is over his career as a Cardinal could be coming to an end as well.
Holliday doesn't know how much time he'll miss but says fracturing his thumb is "super disappointing." #STLCardshttps://t.co/gAJA9wtmom— FOX Sports Midwest (@FSMidwest) August 12, 2016
