Donald Sterling did an interview with Anderson Cooper and was supposed to be apologizing for the comments recorded and released by his girlfriend, V. Stiviano. But instead Sterling seemed to glaze over and briefly apologize, he also took the opportunity to criticize NBA legend and former friend Magic Johnson.
Sterling criticized Johnson's work for minorities and his role as a role model to kids. He brought up his HIV and how many women he slept with. Sterling clearly to the opportunity to slam Johnson.
Prior to the release of the interview, Gilbert Arenas posted on instagram that he would accept an apology from Sterling, via Fat Man Writing:
After such a backhanded apology I wonder if he still feels the same way. I'm not sure what Sterling is thinking and reports of him suffering from dementia maybe true. How could Sterling believe this interview with Cooper helped his cause?
The interview led to the NBA releasing a statement apologizing to Magic and reiterating the leagues commitment to remove him as quickly as they can. Johnson also responded on twitter:
