Mark Teixeira is finally entering the last year of his contract.  The often injured first baseman told the New York Post that he wants to play for the Yankees next season and plans to play until he's 40.

“I would love to play until I am 40,’’ said Teixeira, who will turn 36 early next month. “If you asked me that when I was coming off wrist surgery, I was pretty honest with you guys, I felt like crap the entire year, 2014. I didn’t know what the future held for me. I have completely turned that around. My body feels good. Why not play until I am 40? Being the kind of hitter I am, I could be a DH the last few years of my career. I would love to play that long.’’

I don't really care how long he wants to play, so long as it's not in a Yankees uniform.  As a Yankee fan there are few things more frustrating than Tex and his injuries.  Because you just sit there waiting for him to get hurt.

No matter how well he's playing.  You know it's going to happen.

It's a fact, Tex had a pretty good season last year.  It is also true he went down with an injury at the worst time and cost the Yanks a shot at the division.

It's time to move on at first.  The Bird is the word.
